Meeting Hygiene (before / during / after)
π Before the meeting
- Know the goal. Ask yourself: what would make this meeting successful? (a decision? feedback? a plan?)
- Send a 2β5 line pre-read if you called the meeting: context + what you need from the other person.
- Bring your artifact. A doc, draft, screenshot, or diagram is 10Γ more useful than describing it verbally.
π€ During the meeting
- Open with a 30-second agenda:
- Quick context
- What we need to decide / discuss
- Next steps
- Donβt be afraid of silence. Taking 3 seconds to think > blurting something confused.
- Confirm decisions out loud: βSo weβre agreeing to X, and Iβll do Y by Friday β right?β
- Take notes. Even bad notes are better than no notes.
π© After the meeting
- Send a summary within 24 hours (template in Section 18).
- List action items with an owner and due date β even if the owner is just you.
- Link everything: slides, notes, tickets, drafts. Future-you will thank you.
